The Kotak IISc AI–ML Centre (KIAC) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) was conceived of with the vision of creating a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence–machine learning Centre at IISc. The main objectives of the Centre are:

  • to develop rigorously-trained human resources who will become future leaders of this technology and champion India’s surge in this area,
  • to conduct cutting-edge research in this area, leading to international visibility of the highest order, and
  • to develop innovative, deep-tech solutions to meet the current and emerging requirements of the industry.

KIAC was established with financial support from the Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited (KMBL) through a corporate social responsibility grant. As a state-of-the-art research and education facility, the Centre focusses on artificial intelligence, machine learning, and their applications.

The Centre is anchored by a group of faculty members at IISc who work in the areas of computer science, computational and data sciences, and artificial intelligence.
