KIAC Winter School on AI for FinTech

Date: 21–27 January 2026

The KIAC Winter School on AI for Fintech was organised during 21–27 January 2026 and brought together students, researchers, and industry professionals interested in the rapidly evolving landscape of technology-enabled finance. Through a series of lectures, hands-on tutorials, and project sessions, participants gained exposure to key themes in cryptography for fintech, scalable financial systems, and mathematical finance. Over the course of one week, the programme featured interactive sessions led by faculty experts from IISc and other leading institutions, fostering both technical learning and interdisciplinary dialogue.

The inaugural lecture was delivered by Srichander Ramaswamy, Former Director, Financial Stability, Supervision and Payments, South East Asian Central Banks Research and Training Centre, Kuala Lumpur. He spoke on ‘Fintech developments: understanding the risks and rewards’. Faculty from the Indian Institute of Science covered various topics under the three themes of (i) crypto for fintech, (ii) scalable financial analytics, and (iii) mathematical finance.

The last day had keynote lectures from industry experts and a roundtable discussion. Aniket Bhanu (NSE Clearing Limited) spoke on ‘Artificial Intelligence in Securities Markets and Public Institutions’; Shrikanth Raghavendra and Raghavendra Naik (Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited (KMBL)) on ‘Building a bank-scale AI Platform’’; Manoj Chavan (KMBL) on ‘Digitally Native Governance and Control for AI Journeys’; Mohan Tunuguntla (KMBL) on ‘Building an Enterprise-grade AI Agent’; Pranabendra Chandra (KMBL) on ‘Building Fine Tuned Models for Finance Domain’; and Guruprasad B K and Abhishek Goel (KMBL) on ‘Large-scale Anomalous Login Detection for Fraud Management’. The participants for the roundtable discussion included industry experts from Affluense AI, NSRCEL, Kazunov 1AI, HyperPairs, FinSpring Innovations, and Private Circle Markets. The Winter School was much appreciated by the eighty attendees who hailed from different parts of the country and included students, faculty, and members from the industry.
